Fijian businesses will gather at the Auckland Showgrounds today to showcase local cuisine at the Auckland Food Show under the Fiji Trade Commission banner.

The programme is a collaborative effort between the Commission and the Fiji Ministry of Trade and Investment to support SMEs and exporters in marketing their products, gaining the latest market insights as well as consumer demands and best practices.

Fiji’s Trade Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, Daniel Stowe, said at the show that Fiji could showcase its ability to produce niche and quality products suitable for export overseas.

“We are delighted to be participating in the Auckland Food Show 2024. We believe it is an ideal platform for Fijian exporters to showcase their quality products to targeted international buyers, importers and distributors,” Mr Stowe said in a statement.

“Some of these companies are fulfilling their social responsibility in Fiji by working with local village communities towards their ultimate manufacturing goals, such as working with ginger, turmeric and chilli farmers to provide these commodities for use in natural spices, juices or hot sauces.”

According to the Trade Commission, Fijian and Pacific Islander people in New Zealand love a taste of home “and are always keen to visit the nearest dairy in their suburb which stocks Fijian delicacies and brands”.

The company said the food show provided an opportunity for Fijian brands to be discovered by larger supermarket chains and stores, thereby reaching a wider range of New Zealand and Fijian customers.

This year’s Auckland Food Show will have a wide range of Fijian snacks, foods, spices, hot sauces and coffees for you to sample.

Companies exhibiting include Fiji Fire, Daily Goods, PanPac, Bula Coffee, Aztec Farms and FMF.
