On Thursday July 25, Forello Expo and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock held a press conference as part of the preparations for FIA (International Agricultural Fair) 2024. This is why the two co-organizers signed an agreement to be fully prepared for the September show.
Issues and new features of the sixth edition of the FIA
The press release elaborates on the national impact of the FIA fairs, especially the previous editions. That is why the International Agricultural Fair is an opportunity to implement the general national policy and is reserved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The fair participates in the exchange of good agricultural practices between professionals and farmers. But above all, it is a platform for agribusiness opportunities (more than 300 participants).
As Fanja Raharinomena, secretary general of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, stressed, the involvement of international actors is crucial for visibility. In addition, his department is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to consider new ways to attract more foreign direct investment in the agricultural sector.
The 6th International Agricultural Fair is not only an unmissable event for the agricultural sector, but also aims to achieve a wider impact. Exhibitors from Africa, Asia and Europe will be present together with national manufacturers: the aim is to promote free competition for Malagasy products that can claim to meet international standards. Embassies of various countries will also be present at the fair to support foreign exhibitors.
Furthermore, MINAE does intend to promote local products and the expertise of farmers, producers and collective associations of the Big Island in its space of more than 100 square meters. The Minister’s office will be relocated inside the hall to allow for dialogue between business, civil society and the State. The organizer, Forello Expo, supports promising young agricultural entrepreneurs through various means of assistance and subsequently promotes them to expand their market share.
Farm families, students or those simply retraining will be able to benefit from the quality educational programmes, learning opportunities and skills development at the fair. The “Tsena be” area will be open to farmer organizations to sell their fresh produce.
Sustainability and food processing
The Bio Village at the show aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and green agriculture through environmental innovation and technology. Soil and water conservation. Ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, efficient irrigation systems, organic certification of fruits and vegetables, and products processed according to regulations. These seminars and conferences will serve as a showcase for discussions on food security and climate resilience.
The sixth Madagascar International Agricultural Fair will focus on sustainable development and food processing. This major economic event will cover several sectors such as agriculture, agricultural machinery, livestock, fisheries, fish farming and agro-industry.
The fair is hosted by four ministries, namely the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade, and the Ministry of Decentralization and Territorial Development.
