The Horacio Oduber Hospital once again shares its statistics for July 2024, with the aim of providing transparency to the Aruban community. These figures show how our hospital performs in terms of care, the number of patients seen per month, the number of babies born, as well as the diagnostic and blood donation sections.

During July 2024, 813 patients were hospitalized, less than in June (867 patients). Of the 813 hospitalized patients, 515 were admitted as emergency patients, and only 24.1% were planned admissions. The average length of stay for patients was 4.6 days, and the bed occupancy rate in July was 76.6%, which was a decrease from previous months, but the same as usual during the holiday period.

A total of 557 operations were performed, which was roughly the same as last month. A total of 51 babies were born in July (29 boys and 22 girls). Also in July, our blood donors passed through Bloedbank and a total of 197 donations were made, which is 37 more than in June.

The emergency department saw a total of 2,876 patients, a decrease from the previous month (3,007), with non-emergency patients accounting for 40.6%.

In July, HOH service specialists conducted a total of 7,509 consultations for patients in different polyclinics. The radiology department conducted a total of 5,059 CT scans, MRIs and other examinations. LABHOH received a total of 15,769 test requests, an increase of 3,250 from June. In July, a total of 716 patients returned home after admission.
