Holidaymakers are being warned about a growing number of scams using fake social media accounts impersonating airlines.
Every major UK airline has fake accounts on Twitter X, which are often used to trick customers into revealing personal data, according to consumer group Which?
The company also said X was too slow in removing offending accounts.
The social media platform said accounts impersonating organisations could be permanently suspended under its misleading and deceptive identity policy.
The company previously told Which? that it had removed all fake accounts identified by the consumer group.
The group said the scam often occurs when frustrated customers try to contact the airline to resolve an issue.
