The heat wave continues to hit different parts of the country severely, with temperatures approaching 49°C in the shade. The National Meteorological Office (ONM) has issued two new Special Weather Bulletins (BMS) warning of a “heat wave” risk in several provinces of Algeria.

First Alert Weather in Algeria It concerns the western provinces of Djelfa, M’Sila and Batna. The maximum temperature will fluctuate between 44 and 46°C, and the minimum temperature will be between 28 and 32°C. This BMS will remain in force on Tuesday, July 9, and will be extended until Thursday, July 11.

The second ONM BMS puts the governorates of Adrar, Salah and southern Timimoun on orange alert. The maximum temperature will reach 49°C and the minimum will be between 34 and 38°C. Alert level 2, which began yesterday, will last until Wednesday.

In addition, the Algerian Meteorological Service predicts hot and even scorching weather from the Algerian-Mali border to the central Sahara, the northern Sahara and the southern oases. The same source said the same trend will be seen in the central highlands.

The weather forecast for Tuesday, July 9, shows that the sky will be sunny to partly cloudy in the northern part of the country. A few storms will develop in the afternoon and evening, especially in the interior, highlands and Aures, which may cause isolated rainfall, especially in the Aures area.

Regarding the Sahara region, ONM announced that the sky will be generally clear to partly cloudy. However, during the afternoon and evening, some storm cells may develop along the Algeria-Mali border and in the southernmost Hojar region, causing rainfall in some areas.

In addition to the scorching heat, other weather phenomena are in the forecast for Tuesday. National Meteorological Office (ONM) A yellow alert for “rainfall” and “thunderstorm” has been issued for the governorates of In Guezzam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tamanrasset, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Tebessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Souk Ahras, Guelma and Constantine.

Besides, sandy winds are also likely to blow today, especially in the governorates of Illiz, Salah, Ghazam and Baji Mokhtar.
