The President of the Jonas Malero Savimbi Foundation, during the official launch this Tuesday (20th), recognized the efforts of all the curators and sponsors, both national and foreign, to turn a dream into reality.

Isaias Samakuva praised the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for having the political courage to break taboos and overcome prejudices, so that President José Eduardo dos Santos and the partners of the Angolan Government could also have a basis in building a peaceful and democratic State.

On the other hand, Samakuva said that the decision of the executive power holders is patriotic at a time when many people want to erase their history or remain silent. The president of the foundation said that UNITA, led by Jonas Savimbi, has always been loyal and will never allow itself to be used, so Samakuva said that the foundation will not allow itself to be used.

Isaías Samakuva said that the foundation was created without any funds, but with great ambition and a strong desire to serve local communities in the short term and the most remote areas in the medium and long term.

However, the official presentation of the civil association showed the absence of the UNITA board members invited to the event, which contradicts the statement made by the foundation’s spokesperson, Helena Sakaita, on Monday during the Ponto e Vírgula program, who claimed that the misunderstandings were part of the past.

Crisóstomo Chipilica, commentator for Rádio Correio da Kianda, believes that the absence of UNITA board members at the inauguration of the Jonas Marrero Savimbi Foundation shows a lack of respect for the memory of the founder of the opposition’s greatest political force.

On the other hand, Chipilica said that this attitude shows that despite being organizationally equidistant due to the non-partisan nature of the foundation, the Black Rooster does not have cohesion and unity.

Crisóstomo Chipilica believes that this position implies the presence of jealousy and calls on UNITA to resolve its differences internally, which is why he regrets what is happening to a party that seeks power in 2027.

The editorial staff of Rádio Correio da Kianda contacted the UNITA board of directors in the hope of presenting their version, but we were unsuccessful until the closure of this newspaper.
