In an exclusive interview with RTN correspondent Abdoulaye Tiemogo, CNSP President and Head of State General Abdourahamane Tiani spoke about key issues of concern to Nigeriens and analysed the current situation in Niger. The interview, which replaced the traditional message to the nation on August 3, focused on several key points, including security, the economy and the resilience of the Nigerien people.
Salute to the Wehrmacht and the people
The President began by paying tribute to the defence and security forces and the people of Niger for their resilience in the face of security and economic challenges. He praised the sacrifices of the victims of terrorism and their families and stressed the importance of national unity.
Three feelings on the anniversary of the president’s inauguration
Marking the anniversary of his inauguration, the President expressed three reflections: sobriety in the face of challenges overcome, pride in the resilience of his people, and humility in the face of new responsibilities. He insisted on the importance of the continued support of the people of Niger, despite the embargo and international opposition.
Looking back at the past year
Despite the difficulties, the President cited some achievements, especially in the security sector, where great efforts have been made to strengthen and restructure the National Defense Forces. This commitment is reflected in the increase in the size of the force and the recruitment of 10,000 new soldiers.
At the socio-economic level, the President highlighted initiatives aimed at mobilizing internal resources to meet sovereign expenditures. He mentioned the key role of the Solidarity Fund in supporting the National Defense Forces and launching irrigation schemes aimed at improving food security.
Diplomatic Challenges and Cooperation Strategies
On the diplomatic level, the President spoke of building new strategic partnerships with partners that respect Niger’s interests. He criticized the former colonial power’s attempts to destabilize the country and reiterated Niger’s determination to defend its sovereignty.
Call for a national vision
The President concluded by reiterating the importance of unity and resilience in the face of challenges. He called on the people to continue to support the Government’s efforts for the stability and prosperity of Niger.
