The Ngororero District Government announced that two persons were killed by lightning in Muhanda District, one from Sovu District, one from Kabaya District and one from Nyange District.
Ngororero District Chief Nkusi Christophe said the rain fell during the day and continued at night so that those struck by lightning could be identified at night and the public could be alerted.
“We ask residents to avoid thunderstorms like any other natural disaster as we are surprised by the unusual rainfall. We have taken the initiative to gather all available information and inquiries to let us know because we as a government are ready to help you,” he said.
Nkusi said there are many ways to help people affected by disasters but due to climate change people should provide information about the problem and they will get help quickly.
The Ngororero District Government expressed sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones and promised to be there for them and asked anyone who had problems to inform them.
