The bodies of hundreds of climbers who died as a result of massive melting of glaciers while climbing Mount Everest have been found on the slopes of the world’s highest peak.
Milli.Az citing oksu.az reported that Nepalese climbers and soldiers launched an operation to bring the bodies of the deceased down from the mountain.
It was reported that a military mountaineering team of about 30 people only recovered the bodies of five people, but there are still hundreds of remains under the glacier.
More than 300 people have died on Everest since the first ascent in the 1920s, including eight climbers in 2024. Most died in the death zone at 8,000 meters.
