EPB San Nicolas ended the school year with a bang as students graduated. As a school, they had a successful year with an average graduation rate of 93%.
Ramsey Mathilda, Director of EPB San Nicolas, said that as a school they are very proud of their students. They have an overall average of 93% and a total of 212 students graduated. This graduation night was open to all the departments that make up EPB San Nicolas: Technical (ICT, Electrical, Maintenance), Economic (Administration, Business and ABO (All-in-One Business) and Services (Gastheer / Gastvrouw, Kitchen).
There are 212 people at EPB who can in principle enter the labour market, but it is their choice. But there are also some who are looking at EPI, some of whom are going to the Netherlands. Some young people have been offered jobs by some companies. EPB is very proud of their students, they all managed to pass their internships, otherwise they would not have graduated, and that is the beauty of learning. For Matilda, the success of students is not only about the content of the study, but also about the norms and values. Students must be able to show respect, greet when arriving and leaving, ask for blessings, know how to dress and arrive on time. All of this is key to the future success of students.
The teachers at EPB instill norms and values in their students every day. Often, as a teacher, you don’t see this right away. But everything they say, everything they teach, the students put into practice during their internships, which is undoubtedly a very satisfying moment for the school and its teaching team. 93% of graduates prove that they are on the right track!
Last school year they had a different approach. There was more focus on norms and values. They felt like they were parents and talked not only to the children but also to the parents. Every year they analysed and saw where they failed and where they succeeded was where the school and parents connected the most. Also, the students listened to the teachers anyway and followed the advice. Matilda said that as a school they look back at the number of graduates.
He thanked every single staff member because without them, he alone as a director would not have been able to succeed. He thanked the teachers, the parents who trusted them to take care of their children, and the cleaning staff who took extra care of the students. Everyone has contributed in some way to the success of EPB San Nicolas.
