07-17-24.-Centrados flag bearers ask the electoral authorities to investigate official parties and stop the advantage over candidate Nicolás Maduro

Enrique Márquez, the presidential candidate of the Center Party, has asked the CNE to stop the official advantage and investigate the sources of the campaign funds used by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) to support Nicolás Maduro.

“The CNE must be very careful with these complaints we make: the first is the official abuse and use of public resources to support the campaign of presidential candidate Nicolás Maduro. We have seen how the country is covered with fences and banners. We don’t know where the money comes from. Many talk about $50 million spent on billboards all over the country,” he told a news conference outside the electoral sector in a Caracas square.

In the document submitted to the CNE directors, Márquez made several complaints, which were received by the rector, Juan Carlos DelPino. In this sense, the opposition standard-bearer insists that the government candidates are spending money without controlling the outcome of the elections, at a difficult time for the Venezuelan people, with economic problems, low salaries, low pensions and most campaigns being very moderate.

“The PSUV threw the house out the window and spent so much money, what we are worried about and what we are asking for is an investigation into the finances of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela to see where they got this money from, because the presumption is that all public funds come from the National Treasury,” he wrote in the letter.

Moreover, he noted that the phenomenon observed in the streets of Venezuela is very tacit. “We see it in the thousands of billboards that are painted all over the country, in the thousands of murals that are painted, in the television ads that appear one after another. Another one is on all the television channels in the country, in advertising, on YouTube. It is the amount of resources that we ask you to investigate and tell us where these funds for the tranquility of the Venezuelan people come from? And stop the official abuses.

He also condemned the arrest of several opposition leaders sympathetic to candidates of the Democratic Unity Platform. We are against the arbitrary detention of political leaders throughout the country. «The last case concerns Angel Aristimno, the political leader of Monagas ‘New Era’. This is unacceptable, but more than that, it is also an intimidation of businesses and people. “Today we ask the CNE to act on this matter,” he told the media around the headquarters of the electoral power.
