The sponsors of EIM, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate, Landsvirkjun, the Northeastern Municipalities and Economic Development Associations, Norðurorka and Orkuveita Húsavíkur, and the Northwestern Municipalities Association have today signed an agreement for the association to enter EIM. Eimur’s main goal is to improve the use of resources with value creation, sustainability and innovation as guiding principles. The company now operates across the entire Nordic region.
With its membership in SSNV, Eim’s business scope covers the entire Nordic region. There are great opportunities for development in the western part of Eim. This part of the country is a large grain basket with intensive agricultural production and fishing. In addition, Landsvirkjun’s business is significant in the region and energy production in the Blöndu region is expected to increase in the near future.
Founded in 2016, Eimur carries out projects related to the multiple use of geothermal energy, innovation support, energy exchange and the introduction of a circular economy in industry. Today, Eimur has five employees and will open an office in the northwest and hire two new employees as the business expands. Eimur is a model for the establishment of similar projects, including Orkídea in the south, Bláma in the Westfjords and Eygló in the east.
Eimur aims to bring together individuals and companies through international collaborative projects to collaborate on experiments, research and development projects in the fields of energy, resources and climate. This is the best way to bring in knowledge about how other countries are addressing contemporary challenges, and then use that knowledge to do the same at home.
