On International Youth Day, which falls on 12 August each year, the UAE will share with celebrations around the world and record its long-standing achievements in the field of empowering and investing in youth energy, in line with the consistent approach confirmed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God bless him: “Empowering young people, investing in them and equipping them with the skills and sciences of the future are important pillars of the UAE’s comprehensive development vision. Youth are strength, energy, ambition and real wealth. They are also the pillars of social development and the leaders of tomorrow. They must be given everything to enable them to contribute effectively to the country’s progress and create prosperity for its future.”

The UAE plays a leading role in empowering youth, providing innovative education and professional training opportunities, in addition to supporting entrepreneurial and innovative projects. It believes in the importance of empowering youth in building a sustainable and prosperous future and is proud to contribute effectively to the realization of its vision for young people, considering them as the pillars of development and progress and highlighting this in its strategies and plans. It is committed to providing a supportive environment that encourages creativity and innovation to build a more sustainable and inclusive society.

This year, the global celebration of “International Youth Day” is named differently to accommodate the digital boom brought about by modern technology, focusing on the digital empowerment of youth and its impact on achieving at least 70% of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, reducing the cost of achieving these goals by up to $5.5 trillion.

The digital empowerment of youth is an important part of the UAE’s sustainable development vision, as young people are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet future challenges and lead change towards a more prosperous and developed society. Transformation and innovation are its strategic priorities and it is committed to promoting an integrated digital environment that helps support the knowledge economy and stimulate innovation. A number of national initiatives have been launched in this area to develop digital skills among young people. And enable them to meet modern technological challenges.
