Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, ending Taylor Swift’s 12-week reign atop the charts with The Tortured Poets Department.
According to Luminate, The Tortured Poets Department achieved a historic milestone in its first week of release, accumulating 891.34 million album streams in the United States, setting a record for the most streaming week for an album ever.
Swift’s album debuted at No. 1 in April and stayed there for three consecutive months, becoming the only woman to achieve that feat. She broke the record set by Whitney Houston’s 1987 album Whitney, which spent 11 weeks at No. 1.
Swift’s album tied the record of Morgan Wallen’s 2023 release “One Thing at a Time,” which also debuted at No. 1 and spent 12 weeks at the top. Wallen’s album later returned to the top of the chart, spending a total of 19 weeks at the top.
The only album to spend longer at number one after its debut was Stevie Wonder’s 1976 classic Songs of Life, which stayed at number one for 13 weeks after its release and 14 weeks in total.
Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is his 12th album and his 11th to debut at number one. As a result, The Tortured Poets Department drops to number 4. Number 2 on the Billboard 200 is currently held by Korean boy band ENHYPEN’s ROMANCE.
