UniGlory Hi-Tech, a local technology company, mainly uses nanotechnology to promote energy saving in electrical appliances. However, Chairman Zheng Shanming originally planted dragon fruit in the Philippines, but the COVID-19 pandemic hit fruit sales and the orchard eventually closed down. “(At that time) it was difficult for farmers to survive, so they switched to other jobs, and once they switched, there was no turning back.” The technology now used in air conditioners was developed by Zheng Shanming himself, and was originally a magic weapon for cultivating high-quality fruits.

After applying nano water technology, fruits can absorb more nutrients. Zheng Shanming recalled that his orchard business was good at one time, and there were many repeat customers. When asked whether he was interested in returning to his old business, he was reserved. Zheng Shanming said frankly that if he simply sold the technology to the other party, the profit would not be considerable; being his own boss and opening a farm is the way to maximize the benefits of the industry.
Seeking capital injection will not give up the right to speak
Although the orchard business has come to an end, Zheng Shanming has maintained cooperation with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Cambodia and the Golden Triangle for many years. He said that taking Cambodian rice planting as an example, the yield has been good for the past five years.
Zheng Shanming admitted that he had spent a lot of money on research and development over the years and was now actively seeking investment opportunities. Many of the investors he had contacted hoped to take control of the company with a 70:30 or 60:40 shareholding ratio.
In fact, this is also a dilemma faced by many start-ups. He pointed out that he is familiar with the company’s business and industry trends, and hopes to be a “boss” and make all decisions by himself. In order to obtain a longer-term and pleasant cooperation, he cannot compromise on the right to speak for the time being.
If the company cannot achieve a balance between income and expenditure, it cannot survive. Zheng Shanming has his own set of principles and is actively thinking about other ways out. He revealed that he has contacted a large air-conditioning manufacturer, hoping to expand sales by installing his own design at the source. Zheng Shanming said with a smile that the company is currently equivalent to a “central kitchen”, providing raw materials or processing services in response to the various needs of customers.
