Quito– The government of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa recognized this Friday opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as Venezuela’s president-elect, arguing that the National Electoral Council (CNE) had “clearly manipulated the results” that led to the annulment of the election results that named President Nicolas Maduro as the winner.

In a statement published on social networks, Noboa confirmed that Edmundo González Urrutia is the “legitimate winner”, a recognition “based on respect for the legitimate will of the people of this country, strongly expressed in the polls and supported by the people” with the mobilization in the streets in the last days.

«This is about principles. In these critical and decisive moments, we have a moral obligation, without any room for hesitation or indifference, to say loudly which side we are on. We say it with pride: we are not on the side of laziness. “What happened there harms all of us,” Noboa said in his article. JS
