Recientemente Jeugdgezondheidszorg (JGZ), Tuesday part Ministry of Public Health (DVG) informed the AZV Board about the work of the JGZ and the registration system “Elektronisch Kinddossier” (EKD) which is currently being developed and will soon be operational.
The aim of the presentation was to give the AZV, as an important stakeholder, the necessary information so that the institutions can cooperate with each other in the future. Dr. Janice Essers-Hooft, Vice-President and Director of the JGZ, accompanied by colleagues from the JGZ and the DVG policy department, elaborated on the management and legal tasks of the JGZ.
The main goal of the JGZ is to promote, protect and safeguard the health and well-being of all children and adolescents in Aruba from birth to adolescence (0-25 years). One of the important tasks is to inspect and monitor the target groups.
The introduction of the EKD system by the JGZ will not only help to obtain relevant data on the health and well-being of the target group, but will also generate data on the care of children/adolescents in need. White Yellow Cross The EKD (children aged 0-4 years) will be utilized in close cooperation with the JGZ.
In the presentation, the topic was how short-term or long-term data from EKD can outline developments or “trends” in child/youth care. Some examples would be, in the medical field, what care is covered or not part of a waiting list to receive designated and appropriate care.

This will facilitate cooperation between the JGZ and AZV on the management and care costs of the child/adolescent (0-25 years) group. In general, the idea is to jointly take inventory of children/adolescents who are insured by AZV and to deal with this appropriately in different areas of care (e.g. curative medicine, palliative care, rehabilitation and, most importantly, prevention).
This was a very pleasant and informative presentation. JGZ will continue to work with stakeholders to promote, protect and intervene early in the health and well-being of all children and adolescents in Aruba. In the end, JGZ and AZV agreed to hold more meetings to address these concerns.
