Dutch athlete sets new Olympic record

Central Asia (CA) – Dutch athlete Sivan Hassan set an Olympic record and won the marathon (42.195 km) at the Paris Olympics.

She became the first woman to win Olympic gold medals in three distances: 5000m, 10,000m and marathon.

Hassan finished in 2 hours 22 minutes 55 seconds, ahead of Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa, the world record holder for the distance. Kenya’s Helen Obiri took the bronze medal.
