The results of the meetings since 2018 show that regional cooperation has reached an unprecedented level. Many things have been solved together. For example, borders, the use of river and lake water, migration sites have been regulated, and mutual trade barriers have been eliminated.

In addition, comprehensive measures are being taken to ensure stability and security in the entire region. The head of state who chaired the meeting, Tokayev, stressed that the consultations have become an effective platform for resisting various challenges. Therefore, in the current complex geopolitical and economic situation, it is very important to maintain the high development speed of regional cooperation.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Republic of Kazakhstan president:

Threats such as religious extremism, illegal drug trafficking, transnational crime, the promotion of various radical ideologies and incitement to xenophobia remain relevant to our region. Ensuring information and biosecurity and combating cybercrime also require special attention.

The Uzbek leader is also concerned about the security of the region. Mirziyev said that the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East directly affect the sustainable development of the region. Logistics costs have increased and inflationary pressure has increased. Therefore, the Uzbek president called on Central Asian countries to develop a special concept aimed at ensuring regional security. At the same time, Tokayev said that it is necessary to maintain a safe, harmonious and prosperous space in Central Asia. One of the important tasks next Increase the turnover of goods within the region and gradually increase the trade volume. At present, this figure has reached 11 billion US dollars. The current goal is to increase it to 15 billion US dollars.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Republic of Kazakhstan president:

Large-scale infrastructure and transportation joint projects will inject new impetus into the economic development of the two countries. Positive examples of such mutually beneficial cooperation already exist in the region, such as the first phase of the “Kambar Ata” hydropower station in Kyrgyzstan, the “Rogun” hydropower station in Tajikistan, the natural gas projects in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and the construction of new transport corridors.

The President of Kyrgyzstan proposed to consider the possibility of establishing new multimodal transport routes and transport corridors through the Central Asian countries. Japarov said that the five meetings of regional leaders have injected new impetus into further strengthening priority areas such as trade, investment, transportation and logistics. Obviously, further enhancing the region’s transport and transit potential is beneficial to any participating country. Therefore, it is of great significance to take comprehensive measures to promote the development of the transportation system. One of the urgent issues on the agenda is the rational use of water and energy. In other words, it is necessary for everyone to jointly and effectively use the already scarce water. At the same time, Tokayev believes that the new water policy should be based on equal and fair water use procedures and the improvement of rules for fulfilling mutual obligations.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Republic of Kazakhstan president:

The initiative to establish a water and energy consortium of Central Asian countries and jointly build hydropower facilities will become the basis for multilateral cooperation in water resources management. Digitalization of water distribution and accounting, implementation of space monitoring technologies, and systematic scientific work are important tasks.

At the end of the meeting, the head of state congratulated Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his successful appointment as the Chairman of the next Shura Council and awarded the distinguished guest the “Kulmet” badge.
