One of the side dishes of the summer season in Sauðárkrók is the Græni Salurinn concert, which, as usual, takes place in the old Bifröst – though not in Græni Salurinn. Feykir asked Ægi Ásbjörnsson, the main promoter of the concert, a few questions about the event, which takes place on Friday, June 21st at 20:30.
What can people who attend Green Hall tomorrow night expect? “At Wanda, you can expect great music, happy people and an exciting atmosphere coming from all over. You can also expect battles for seats, but that’s another story.”
Which musicians have announced their arrival? “Many people gave pleasant musical moments at Græna Hall and previously at VSOT. Some ensembles remained almost unchanged, like the School Orchestra and the Baldwins Simon Orchestra, while others were reorganized, like Trió Pilla Prakkó. The Tyrolean band had announced its arrival and wanted to give an open rehearsal of selected songs that would later be performed at the cultural evening in the capital. We also had good friends from the south, but it was Dudds, led by Lárus Gríms, who took us on a jazz/funk journey and played with some Skagfirian singers, but it could be said that this band was the trump card of the evening.
Next, Fekir asked if there might be a surprise guest, but then realized that the guest probably wouldn’t be a surprise if they told him who it was. However, Egil replied that unexpected guests often surprise concert organizers, so the possibility existed.
Why do people go to Greene Hall and what is the magic of this concert? “People should come mainly to have fun, to smile at others and to enjoy themselves. This is an ideal night to stop listening to the music and forget about everything else. It is also worth remembering that culture is never bigger than what people want it to be. Magic is and will always be the spark that forms between performer and audience. ”Guðbrandur Ægir concludes.
The concert was dedicated to the memory of Magnus Helgason, a regular guest on the Green Hall and VSOT Bifrastar stages. At the beginning of the year, Maggi said goodbye.
The house closes at 20:00 but the concert starts at 20:30. The entrance fee is 1,500 ISK but there is no POS on site but there is an ATM next door. Arriving early to get a seat in the hall can be considered a wise move.
