A major inspection in several cities found 33 sex workers working in holiday homes, hotel rooms and social housing. Thirty cases of illegal prostitution were reported.
The Hart van Brabant Administrative Intervention Team (BIT) carried out inspections on illegal prostitution and human trafficking on May 23 and May 30.
Holiday parks and hotels
Prostitutes were found in holiday homes at two holiday parks in Oisterwijk and Carterswil. In a hotel in the municipality of Gilze en Rijen, several sex workers were found working illegally in hotel rooms. A sex worker also appeared to be active in a hotel in Tilburg.
Illegal prostitution was also taking place in eight houses in Tilburg. This had already happened in two houses. Therefore, in order to prevent this from happening again, we imposed fines totaling 10,000 euros.
Of the 33 prostitutes examined, eight said they wanted to be exposed to prostitution social work. Most of the sex workers came from Eastern European countries.
More violations
During an inspection of a house in Tilburg, a sex worker from Panama was found to be illegally in the Netherlands. Her passport has been confiscated and the sex worker is at risk of deportation.
The inspection also found other breaches such as unsafe fire conditions, subletting of social housing and people living in unregistered properties.
