Iran has reiterated that it will respond to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, in Tehran.
According to Iranian media reports, Iranian officials stressed that retaliatory actions will be taken at the appropriate time to avoid any potential traps, while denying the involvement of insiders in the incident.
Iran’s new Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his British, German and French counterparts late Friday during which they discussed Haniyeh’s assassination, the Iranian Students News Agency reported.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi: China and Russia are our close friends, they helped us during the sanctions
“Not only will we not forget the countries that have extended a helping hand to us in difficult times, but we will also strengthen our relations with them.

“During the talks, I insisted that the Zionist regime’s violations of Iran’s security and sovereignty will never go unanswered, and the Islamic Republic’s response will be precise, measured and take into account all necessary aspects,” IRNA quoted Araghchi as saying.
“However, we will not fall into possible traps, there is no doubt that this revenge will be carried out at the right time and in the right way,” Alagchi reportedly added.
No internal involvement
According to Al Jazeera, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib confirmed in an interview with a local website on Saturday that there was no evidence of internal involvement in Haniyeh’s assassination and ruled out the possibility of a security breach.
Hamas announced on Wednesday, July 31, that Haniyeh was killed at his residence in Tehran after attending the inauguration of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.

A preliminary investigation by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards showed that the assassination attempt used a short-range projectile equipped with a 7.5-kilogram warhead fired from outside Haniyeh’s official residence, a secure place used by foreign guests.
The Revolutionary Guards accused Israel of planning the operation in an effort to sow discord within the Islamic world and the resistance front.
