PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former President Donald Trump, a 2024 Republican presidential candidate, said Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris’ erratic positions on several major issues, including energy, immigration, crime, health care, and more, by constantly explaining them through press aides rather than in person, is detrimental to her long-term tenure.
“I don’t think it’s going to work,” Trump said. “She can’t have a press conference.”
Trump’s comments came during an exclusive, hour-long interview with Breitbart News Thursday night at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s luxury oceanfront resort and club. Specifically, Harris has had press staffers make statements to the media in recent weeks, often anonymously. Change Harris has long held positions on everything from her support for a ban on fracking to her support for a radical “Medicare for All” health care vision that would gut the U.S. health care program to her positions on immigration and crime. However, Harris herself has not explained whether she has actually changed on these issues, and if so, why and how. As Harris continues to refuse to hold press conferences or give interviews to the press to explain herself, American voters can only trust these repeatedly anonymous and faceless aides to handle her alleged new positions.
Harris has recently made several repeated statements, the most shocking of which is that this has led to New York Post On Monday morning, she was called “Kama Kameleon” and was talking about fracking:

During the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign, Harris made it clear that if elected president, she would ban fracking. A few weeks ago, after years of not publicly stating her stance, an anonymous campaign aide Make a statement arrive HILL Never mind, the newspapers said, she no longer supports a ban on fracking. The candidate herself made no such statement, and certainly no explanation on an issue that is central to both U.S. energy and economic policy, and one that has major political implications for battleground states, especially Pennsylvania. Still, many in the media assumed she had indeed changed her mind based solely on the anonymous aide’s comments.
In an interview with Breitbart News, Trump made it clear that Harris’ views on energy issues are extreme and radical and will weaken the U.S. economy.
“On energy, she wants everything to be powered by wind,” Trump said. “That’s crazy. She’s going to ruin our country. Germany went down this path for two years under (former Chancellor) Merkel. One of the reasons Merkel is no longer in power is because the opposition said, ‘We’re ruining our economy.’ Wind is a very expensive energy source. Frankly, it doesn’t work. Whenever the wind blows, it’s intermittent. The whole thing is crazy. In Germany, they took down the coal plants and everything else, and now under the new government, they’re building a plant a week. They know it doesn’t work, but they keep wanting to do it. They know electric trucks don’t work. They have to stop six times to get from New York to California. A diesel doesn’t stop once.”
Trump said his debate preparation would be easy because Harris was a mess on the issues and it was just “common sense.”
“She wants open borders. She wants to defund the police. She’s always wanted that. She’s never changed. Now, she wants to change,” Trump said. “She wants to say something that she doesn’t believe. She actually believes in defunding the police. She actually absolutely believes in open borders. She was the worst border commissioner in history for three and a half years. She never even went to the border. They say she went once; she went to a part of the border that had nothing to do with the problem. She was a terrible border commissioner. Millions of people came into our country. I think 20 million people came into our country. Maybe even more, especially the fugitives. The fugitives are brutal. They come from all over the world, not just South America. Many terrorists have come into our country. You see, she wants to defund the police, she always has. She helped people who wanted to destroy our country, like in Minnesota; she helped them get out of jail. “There were deaths in Minnesota. They attacked the federal courthouse. They attacked everything.”
Trump told Breitbart News that Harris’s history of failure as a candidate — he pointed to her poor performance in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary — does not bode well for her electoral chances in 2024. He also said he was shocked that Harris and other Democrats pushed him aside this year even though President Joe Biden won the nomination and that Biden chose Harris for vice president because she was “mean” to him.
“I looked at her – look, there were 14 candidates running, and she was the first one to be eliminated,” Trump said. “I didn’t think she was any good at the debates. I thought she was terrible. She was mean to him, but other than that – she was very mean to him. I was shocked when he picked her because she was the meanest. People didn’t like what she did. People didn’t like her. She never made it to Iowa. She resigned almost immediately.”
Trump said Harris must publicly explain these major issues as soon as possible. He also said that professional politicians like Harris usually tell the truth when they are radical about something, and they are dishonest when they try to retract their views.
“She has to explain herself,” Trump said. “Why does she want open borders and now she wants a wall? It happens all the time in politics, and I’ve seen it many times over the years, with politicians and politicians. He starts out by saying, ‘I want a wall. I want this.’ It’s always been that way. ‘I want to defund the police.’ She wants to defund the police. And now, all of a sudden, she says, ‘No, I don’t mean that. I don’t mean that.’ All of these policies add up to what she actually wants to do. She really thinks defunding the police is a good thing.”
Trump also said Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Waltz, also wants to cut police funding. Trump said that in 2020, rioters burned down Minneapolis, causing the police to abandon a police station, while Walz refused to send the National Guard to protect the city.
“The same thing with the governor of Minnesota. He thinks defunding the police is a good thing. He actually said that,” Trump said. “He gives very little protection to the police. When they kicked the police out of their precincts, you remember? He wouldn’t send the military. I was in charge of sending the National Guard. If I hadn’t sent the National Guard, I’m telling you, Minneapolis wouldn’t even exist today. He wouldn’t do it. We called him and said, ‘Send the Guard. Send the Guard.’ He wouldn’t do it.”
