Iraqi national football team coach, Spaniard Jesus Casas, on Tuesday announced the 21-player roster for the training camp in Doha, and it included a few surprises.
The list of Doha camp includes: Jalal Hassan, Hussein Hassan, Ali Kazem, Akam Hashem, Rebin Sulaqa, Mustafa Saadoun, Safaa Hadi, Amjad Atwan, Hassan Abdel Karim (Quqia), Louay Al-Ani, Ahmed Yahya, Manaf Younis, Ahmed Makanzi, Pashang Abdel, Saad Natiq, Zaid Tahseen, Osama Rashid, Muhammad Al-Taie, Muhammad Qasim Majid, Hiran Ahmed, Muhannad Ali.
Casas explained that the current list will not be final and will be limited to the Doha training camp, from which a group of players will be selected and then added to another final list for the upcoming matches against the Oman and Kuwait national teams in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
For the first time in many years, the list does not include the name of the player Ibrahim Bayesh due to his declining skill level and some problems he had with his former team (Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya). It also saw the return of the player Amjad Atwan after a long absence due to unknown reasons.
