The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has enacted a new law on good and evil that severely restricts the rights of women in the country. This time, the Taliban prohibits women from singing, reading poetry or speaking loudly in public, according to CNN.
In the new amendment to the law, Article 13 applies exclusively to women. It states that women must always cover their body and face in public places to avoid temptation and seduction by others. Clothes should not be thin, tight or short.
They are also required to cover themselves in the presence of non-Muslim men and women to avoid compromising their Islamic values.
Under the new law, women’s voices are considered private and therefore should not be sung, recited or read in public.
