DN Santo Domingo – With Father’s Day approaching, the Office of the Mayor of the National District has intensified the daily cleaning of the main cemeteries in the capital so that they can be in the best condition to receive those who visit the grave of your loved one.
The operation was ordered by Mayor Carolina Mejía and carried out in the Máximo Gómez National Cemetery, the Christ the King Cemetery and the Christ the Redeemer Cemetery, as well as by the troops who permanently carry out cleaning and maintenance work in the cemeteries.
Through this action, the commission seeks to provide greater dignity to cemeteries when they receive large numbers of visitors, such as on Mother’s Day.
Municipal administrators in the National District reflected on the importance of cemeteries in moments of farewell to loved ones and in paying respect to them when visiting their graves.
Work includes highlighting parking spaces, repairing containers, painting entrances and offices, mowing, cutting grass, sledding and general cleaning.
Specifically, a brigade of 60 people is responsible for cleaning three cemeteries, and another 30 brigade members are responsible for cleaning. These operations are strengthened by sweepers and blowers on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition, fire trucks also help clean the streets.
