The award is in recognition of Mr Jaiteh’s outstanding contribution and service to the Port’s dock labour service during his tenure as a dockworker.
Mr. Jaiteh, CEO of SK Jaiteh and Sons and Honorary Consul of Cyprus in Banjul, thanked the company and the entire port administration for the recognition, saying it was an outstanding achievement that deserves celebration.
“I started out as a dockworker before venturing into the business industry. Hence, every privilege and treatment I have enjoyed in the country started from then. My journey as a dockworker is still fresh in my memory and it reflects my position today. I am grateful for this recognition,” he said gratefully.
He said every journey in life has a starting point and he remains proud to hold such a position.
“I am truly grateful for this award and it means a lot to me,” he said. “I pray that the company continues to improve and grow to reach the desired level. In addition, I would like to thank all the longshoremen across the country – from their president to the last employee, as well as GPA’s managing director and his staff – for the recognition.”
“I am honored to receive this award, which recognizes all longshoremen. But it is also a challenge for everyone to remain committed to service in every aspect of their lives.”
Mr Jaiteh, who is known for his generosity and commitment to national service, received the latest recognition from the DLCG for his outstanding contributions and achievements during his time as a dockworker, which he described as a turning point in his status.
