Abigail Disney, heiress to the entertainment empire Walt Disney Co., filmmaker and philanthropist, has demanded that the Democratic Party, to which she is a major donor, replace Joe Biden as its candidate, threatening to cut off its financing if he does not.
“I plan to cut off any donations to the party until Biden is replaced. This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has done admirable service to the country, but the risk is too great,” Disney said.
“If Biden doesn’t step back, the Democratic Party will lose. I am absolutely certain of that. “The consequences of that failure will obviously be severe,” he added.
In the same statement, the filmmaker — granddaughter of Roy O. Disney, brother of Walt Disney and co-founder of the company — suggested replacing candidate Biden with an alternative: the No. 2 in his administration, Vice President Kamala Harris.
