Witness Alfusainey Dari explained that in September 2023, the accused, Ousainou Bojang, came to their garage in Casamasedi Ululou, northern Senegal, and told them that he wanted to go to Ziguinchor and wanted to use the seven-seater car.

PW13 stated that he told the accused that the seven-seater car was sold out and that he would call a person called Jana. He stated that after he called, Ousainou asked for the fare and he told him that it was 2,500 CFA francs but Ousainou gave him 5,000 CFA francs.

He said that later, Usanu sat down and started crying and he asked him what was wrong and Usanu responded that there was a problem between him and his white lady.

“I asked him if that was all and he said ‘yes, that’s all’. I told him ‘no’. That’s when he came to me and told me he wanted to see a fortune teller,” the eyewitness explained.

He added that he then told the accused that there was a Gambian lady named Mama Jabbi (PW3) who was a fortune teller and he then took Ousainou to Mama Jabbi’s residence.

He said that when they arrived at Mama Jabbi, he left Ousainou there and returned to the garage. He also said that Mama’s landlady later called him to tell him that Ousainou was talking about killing someone.

“I just got on a motorcycle and went there,” the witness said.

He said that upon arrival, he asked Usseinu what had happened and that Usseinu told him that “two people were killed by his men.”

The witness said he then told the defendant that he could not take on the responsibility. “We were told to go to the army, but I told them I would not go; instead, I would go to the gendarmerie because the army does beat people,” he explained.

He said that when he went to see the captain of the gendarmerie, the officer told him to go back and talk to Usseinu.

Witness Dari further stated that he returned to Usanu but Usanu kept “talking about killing people” and witness Dari returned to the gendarmerie and told them what Usanu kept saying.

“The captain of the gendarmerie came with me to Diululu. He was in plain clothes, got in a car and took Usanu to the gendarmerie base,” the witness testified.
