The statement issued by the Kel Moussa Municipality on Monday, July 15, 2024, prompts us to provide the following three clarifications to eliminate any ambiguity.
1▪ The disputed site is not located in the municipality of Ker Moussa. It is entirely within the perimeter of the village of Kirène, in the commune of Diass.
2▪ It is worth recalling that the Dias Rural Council considered a new town project in 2006 which covered the currently disputed area.
3▪ In addition, on July 23, 2019, the late Mayor Aliou Ciss expressed his support in letter No. 73 for replacing equal capacity with the coordinates of the current disputed location. These three clarifications were made to avoid mergers and other confusions.
Therefore, the Dias Town Hall invites all stakeholders to stop saying that the site is not in the Dias municipality. Everyone knows that the disputed site is located in the Dias commune, more precisely in the village of Kirene. The Dias Town Hall reminds all parties that they are free to use all legal avenues to defend their position.
However, telling and establishing false information about the location of the site in public opinion could have serious consequences that could destroy neighborly relations and centuries-old relationships between municipalities that share a border. That is why the Dias City Hall invites all parties to proceed with caution and avoid harmful consequences of the merger.
