“Today is an important day for the SDSM. Today we elect a party president. It is good that people go out to vote. I expect that all the energy that we have managed to mobilize in the past few days, the energy for change, will take effect today, that is, it will happen through voting. I hope that by the end of today, the principles of the democratic electoral process will be respected and that the members of the SDSM will choose a new beginning that will begin tomorrow,” said Despotovsky.
As he said, it is worrying that during the voting process so far, a large number of SDSM members were not allowed to vote despite having everything they needed to vote.
“My team and I have been discussing this topic for the past few days and we have also submitted a formal request to allow all party members who will appear at the polls to realize the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. All these cases are documented everywhere and we control every polling station in the country in all municipal organizations. “Whatever the outcome of the vote, we as a party must work on resolving all these cases in the coming days,” Despotovsky added.
He mentioned that SDSM is a political party that cannot allow its members to return from polling stations at any time, especially in the situation they are in now, when every member is important and cannot allow itself this “luxury”.
Asked to comment on the withdrawal of the candidacy of former Defense Minister and current MP Slavjanka Petrovska, Despotovsky responded that he was still awaiting evidence of alleged irregularities.
“Well, I really want to see the evidence announced by Slavyanka about the alleged irregularities during the operation. After the evidence is provided, I and the legal team working with us will give an appropriate opinion,” Despotovsky added.
