Last year, the Netherlands and Denmark jointly purchased 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks. These are already used copies provided by German companies Rheinmetall Overhauled. Ukraine could use these tanks to fight Russian invaders.
Yesterday and today, the last 2 Leopard 2 tanks were undergoing validation tests as part of the delivery. The first batch of 12 tanks has been delivered for shipment. All 14 tanks will be delivered simultaneously before the end of the summer.
Minister Brekelmans: “Given the intense fighting on the battlefield, Ukraine urgently needs more military support. These tanks can play an important role in defending the Ukrainian army against Russian forces. Together with its allies and partners, the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary. This is essential to protecting Ukraine and curbing Putin’s aggression.”
The Leopard 2A4 could help Ukraine gain battlefield supremacy. These tanks are powerful, provide good protection for their crews, and are fast.

The Netherlands is a member of the International Tank Alliance, which is supplying modern main battle tanks to Ukraine.
The Leopard 1 tanks were also delivered in this context. Denmark and Germany participated in the project.
