Emmanuel Macron On Saturday eve of this week, he delivered his traditional speech to the armed forces July 14. In the presence of senior officials, the Head of State spoke specifically about the defense budget. “The acceleration of time and the reconciliation of threats do require new adjustments. That is why I ask you to continue to paint the consequences of war tomorrow, not as we imagined yesterday, and to be ready to adjust our military programs for 2025,” declared the President of the Republic.
“This adjustment is necessary,” he insisted, without giving details, and comes as the economy has slowed in recent years due to Ukraine Warlike armed drones, which have become indispensable on the battlefield. But the president stressed that “I am talking about adjustments, not radical reforms,” ensuring that “the ambitions and fundamentals of defending our country remain unchanged.” The Military Planning Law (LPM) 2024-2030 stipulates a 40% increase over the previous LPM, to 413 billion euros, over seven years.
