Over the past few weeks, the impeachment trial of presidential candidate Donald Trump over hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels has been going on.
A large crowd of supporters of US President Joe Biden gathered outside a Manhattan court today. Among them was Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, who had harsh words for Trump when Sky News interviewed him.
Michael Taylor, a spokesman for the Biden campaign, said supporters were not there to talk about the trial. “We’re here because you’re here,” he told reporters, gesturing to the courthouse.
De Niro didn’t mince words when he was interviewed by reporters Sky News “You know what I think about Donald Trump, he’s a monster,” the actor said. “He should never be president of the United States again, ever.”
He then said Trump was guilty regardless of whether he was acquitted in the case. “We all know that. I’ve never seen anyone get away with so much,” De Niro said.
Before leaving the area, the actor accused a group of Trump supporters in the area of being a criminal gang.
At a Trump campaign news conference later today, the team said De Niro’s appearance proved Republicans were correct in saying that Trump’s trial was political.
