The All Ceylon Megara Congress (ACMC), led by former minister Rishad Bathiudeen, has decided to announce the candidate it will support in the August 14 presidential election.
ACMC leader and MP Rishad Bathiudeen said the decision was taken at the party’s supreme committee meeting last night.
“Our party’s Supreme Council held extensive discussions on who should be supported in the presidential election. Therefore, we decided to make a final decision at 10 am on the 14th.”
He said that since ACMC was still located in the ‘Samagi Jana Sandanaya’, they would attend the alliance’s meeting.
“At the time, the SJB asked us to support the party. At the same time, the current president also sent us a letter asking for our support. What we said was that we need to protect the current economy. We cannot go backwards,” he said.
