The water situation in Tunisia remains worrying. According to a report of the National Agricultural Observatory (Onagri) on August 19, 2024, the water filling rate of dams is only 24.1%.
Most of the largest dams are below 40% full, fluctuating between 3% and 37%.
Water reserves in Tunisia’s dams fell by 1.14 billion cubic meters (-63.44%) compared to the seasonal average, from 1.79998 billion cubic meters to 658.03 million cubic meters.
Compared with the average of the past three years, water reserves decreased by 195.23 million cubic meters (-25.69%). Its discharge was 564.68 million cubic meters, while the average discharge of the three years was 759.92 million cubic meters.
