Dakar marks 49th anniversary of Comoros independence

The Development Initiative Meeting of Comorian Intellectual Youth, African Patriots for Work, Ethics and Brotherhood (RDJA-PACTEF) will be held in Dakar from July 5 to 6 to mark the 49th anniversary of the Comoros’ accession to international sovereignty.

The celebrations are organized in partnership with the Comoros community in Senegal and will take place at two iconic locations in Dakar: the Monument de la Renaissance and the National Theatre.

The first part of the event, dedicated to the 49th anniversary of the independence of the Comoros, will begin at 8 pm on Friday, July 5, at the Monument of the African Renaissance. The commemorations will continue on Saturday, July 6, at 3 pm in a room of the Senegalese National Theater, with readings from the Holy Quran and excerpts from the national anthems of Senegal, Comoros and African unity.

The program will also include presentations by six speakers and a session on the theme “Legal, diplomatic and political tools for a fully sovereign Africa.”

After the conference, participants will be able to enjoy traditional African dances and a concert bringing together African artists, promoting a moment of exchange and camaraderie.
