Photo: In late February, Hopwood Middle School’s Career Day gave students a taste of the real world, as more than 20 government agencies, businesses and individuals showcased their careers to the school’s 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Career Day was part of the CNMI public school system’s celebration of Career and Technical Education Month and gave students a chance to hear experts from a variety of fields share their career journeys and work experiences. Former Representative Sheila Babauta, speaking to her 8th grade English Language Arts class, said it’s important to expose young people to careers at an impressionable age. “I think the more options they see, the more capable they are. At the end of the day, it all comes down to whether or not they have the capability,” she said.
