Officials from the Department of Public Works, the public school system and the Department of Public Safety discussed Tuesday how to ease traffic congestion caused by construction on Beach Road in preparation for the start of public schools on Aug. 20, 2024. Attending the meeting, held in the conference room of the Department of Public Works Technical Services Division, were Department of Public Works Secretary Ray N. Yumul, Public School Student Transportation Director Shawn San Nicolas, Department of Public Works Highway Patrol Lt. Daniel Smith and Sergeant Adrian Mendiola, Department of Public Works Highway Engineers Jerry Tolentino and Manolo Reyes, and Department of Public Works Highway Administrator Lorraine Villagomez. Mendiola said once school starts, there will be more pedestrians on the road, most of whom are children, so the Department of Public Works will deploy more police officers to ensure everyone’s safety.
