Following several recent arrests of drug suspects on Saipan, guns were found to be in the hands of unregistered gun owners or with missing serial numbers. Since then, the public school system says it has increased awareness and preparedness to protect students, especially as they head into a new school year. Last Friday, the Saipan Tribune met with Education Commissioner Dr. Lawrence F. Camacho and Deputy Commissioner of Public School Administrative Services Eric Magofna at the Public Schools office. “We have a great relationship with the Department of Public Safety and the Department of Fire and Emergency Management Services, and we have been communicating and working with them to develop emergency action plans so that we all understand… so that if a crisis occurs, each of our agencies knows our mission and purpose at any given time,” he said.
