A 53-year-old male hiker was rescued by Guam Fire Department rescue personnel after he fell into a 35-foot-deep hole inside the Santa Rita Sumai, fire spokesman Lt. Nick Garrido said. While assessing the patient, the man became pulseless and had difficulty breathing. GFD, assisted by the Marianas Joint District Fire and Emergency Services, performed CPR on the trail, and HSC25 arrived on scene and transported the patient to the Naval Hospital. Garrido said the call came in at 2:46 p.m. Saturday. Garrido said the stranded hiker was with five other hikers, and GFD rescue personnel performed a rope rescue operation, made contact with the hiker, and pulled him out of the hole.
