Guam Fire Department spokesman Lt. Nick Garrido said firefighters responded to Ipan First Beach to rescue two fishermen in distress. Firefighters were dispatched at 5:17 p.m. Friday and upon arrival, one of the fishermen made it to shore. The other fisherman was about 100 yards above the reef and Guam Fire Department rescuers entered the water to rescue the fisherman in distress, Garrido said. Rescue crews on the rescue boat picked up the rescued fishermen and brought them back to shore. Garrido said both fishermen were treated at the scene; one was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and the other declined to be taken to a hospital. Garrido added that the Guam Fire Department appreciates the help of Jeff’s Pirate Bay staff who launched the rescue boat and assisted the Guam Fire Department personnel in the water.
