Nineteen firefighters with the Guam Fire Department were promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant Tuesday afternoon. In a small ceremony at Leo’s Palace attended by their families and brothers and sisters in blue uniforms, each was proudly awarded the rank. Acting Fire Department Chief Joey San Nicolas said it was a great day for the GFD. “We finally had two rounds of promotions for the position of Fire Lieutenant. Going back to 2022, as a group of promotions that have never had a ceremony, this was a very valid reason, as well as this latest round of promotions,” San Nicolas said. “So this round of promotions is complete.” San Nicolas said another round of promotions will begin again and announced the appointment of the assistant fire chief.
