Cyclist dies after being run over in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico

A cyclist was reportedly crushed to death in the city of Vega Alta early this Saturday morning. Puerto Rico Police Department (NPPR).

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the deceased was leaving a gas station on Highway PR-690. Authorities confirmed that the victim tried to cross the lanes of the said road in a dark area and did not take the necessary precautions.

he Puerto Rico Police Department (NPPR) is investigating a shooting incident that occurred this Saturday in the community of Santo Domingo, in the state of Peñuelas, in which a man was murdered and two women were injured.

According to preliminary information, the victims were two sisters, aged 19 and 24 respectively. Both were sent to Medical Center (CDT) and then transferred to a hospital in the metropolitan area.

Authorities report the women are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the deceased was identified as Jose E. Pacheco Rodriguez 22 years old. According to NPPR, the young man has a criminal record for controlled substances.

Several shell casings of different calibres and three motor vehicles were found abandoned at the scene.

Agent Fernando Tarafa, assigned to the Homicide Squad Criminal Investigation Team Ponce’s Criminal Investigation Commission (CIC) is in charge of the investigation, along with prosecutor Antonio Cintron Almodóvar.
