ANZ Bank issues warning customer People across the Pacific must be on high alert for scams following last weekend’s global technology outage.
ANZ Pacific regional executive Sarah Stubbings said while ANZ services were largely unaffected, the bank would continue to monitor and manage any impact on customers.
“We would also like to remind customers to remain vigilant as scammers may be looking to exploit this global event for their own gain and we should remain vigilant.
“Please remember that ANZ will never contact customers to ask for their account details or login details for ANZ Online Banking or the ANZ Pacific App, and we will never ask customers to click on a link.”
Ms Stubbins warned customers to “be extremely careful”.
“If something doesn’t seem right, or is unexpected, question it.”
If ANZ customers notice suspicious activity on their accounts, or they feel they may have responded to a scammer, they can call the ANZ Contact Centre, visit their nearest branch or use BankMail to securely send and receive messages from ANZ via ANZ Online Banking or the ANZ Pacific App.
ANZ Bank’s advice to customers:
ANZ will never:
Ask for your banking PIN, password or security code.
Send you a link to log into ANZ Online Banking – just type the URL (anz.co.nz) into your browser.
Require you to download any software to your device. Require you to grant us remote access to your device.
