Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez calls for an immediate end to “external interference and political media manipulation” against Venezuela After the presidential election in late July, the authorities handed Nicolás Maduro the victory.
His comments came despite concerns from the opposition and the international community that the election could be rigged.
“The country’s internal institutions and processes must be respected and Venezuelans allowed to resolve their problems.”Minister Rodriguez said on his social media profile, where he shared a photo of President Maduro making a victory sign with his hands.
Venezuela held a presidential election on July 28, and according to data from the National Electoral Council (CNE), Maduro won with just over 51% of the votes. Although the opposition claimed victory for its candidate Edmundo González, much of the international community demanded a new review of the minutes amid suspicions of possible irregularities in the vote count.
