The Solomon Islands Correctional Services (CSSI) would like to thank the Australian Government for funding the construction of eight prefabricated building modules.
For two decades, CSSI has been one of the lucky beneficiaries in the country to have access to these new facilities.
They will house CSSI’s Emergency Response Group (ERG) offices, initial preparedness facilities, storage for CSSI’s Rehabilitation and Reintegration Programs Division, and records management.
Deputy Commissioner for Operations Michael Nagu expressed his gratitude to Australia and Island Enterprises Limited for completing the works on the buildings.
“I would like to sincerely thank the Australian Government for its continued funding support through the Australia and Solomon Islands Law and Justice Partnership, which supports departments in promoting stability and security across the country.”
“This includes supporting CSSI’s small-scale infrastructure priorities, training and capacity building, and strategic planning,” he said.
Nagu also thanked the Infrastructure and Maintenance Team for working with Island Enterprise and DFAT to achieve this great outcome.
He explained that these new facilities are located within the CSSI headquarters compound and are the first infrastructure initiatives of the CSSI.
“They will provide the agency with enhanced capabilities to carry out its core responsibilities in these key administrative areas,” Nagu said.
