The first meeting of the crisis management fact-finding mission is scheduled for Wednesday. The mission, established on 3 July with the agreement of the President of the Government of New Caledonia, will meet this afternoon in the General Assembly.
How can we get New Caledonia out of this unprecedented crisis? In an effort to make progress on this complex issue, a dedicated delegation will hold its first meeting at Parliament in Noumea on Wednesday, 24 July.
Created on July 3, the mission is intended to be a space for information, exchange and consultation between elected officials of the government and Congress. It should allow local advisers to regularly monitor progress in the management of the current crisis. It is also an opportunity to make suggestions or recommendations.
At this stage, it is planned to hold meetings once a month. If necessary, additional meetings can be held at the request of MPs or the government.
This new information mission is composed of the office bearers, namely the president, eight vice-presidents, two secretaries and two treasurers, as well as the presidents of political groups, the presidents of standing committees and members of the New Caledonian government. Members of Parliament who are not members of this mission can still attend these meetings.
