Two women were identified as those associated with the bandits and were arrested and handed over to the police.
Another pregnant woman was released due to her medical condition.
The Troubled Life of Anse Hainaut
Dario Louis, president of the board of directors of Anse d’Hainault, told the AlterPresse/AlterRadio platform that the crime rate in the second public area of Anse d’Hainault has worsened since 2020, about two months ago. Municipal department of Boudon (Casec).

Equipped with guns and bladed weapons, including machetes and clubs, these armed bandits usually extort people at public markets where they liquidate stolen livestock.

Armed groups enforce the criminal code in several other departments, including Ouest and Artibonite.
Resistance is survival
Faced with the brutal terror that the bandits continue to inflict on the inhabitants of Anse Hainault, the farmers decided in June 2024 to organize themselves and form vigilante teams equipped with machetes, sticks and stone bags to thwart the bandits, reports President Casec de Boudon.
Their number increased greatly, from 40 farmers to more than 600, forming a huge self-defense brigade.
After several of them were lynched, the other bandits were so terrified that they sought refuge in remote areas of the Grande Anse.
Louis praised the pursuit of the bandits as strengthening the dedication and determination of the residents of Eno Bay, while also highlighting the lack of telecommunications network that made it impossible to continue hunting down the bandits.
The Boudon Municipal Departmental Board has called on the national government to provide assistance to the many families affected by gang violence in the Anse Hainault Second Municipal District.
