The Cook Islands will host the next Oceania Athletics Association (OAA) Congress in May 2025.
Cook Islands Athletics Association president Simone Feo said the Oceania Congress of the 22 member athletics federations was held on Sunday 2 June.
At the meeting, the Cook Islands was announced as the next host of the Oceania Annual Conference in May 2025.
“This is a great opportunity for our country to host fellow Pacific people.”
Feo said the Cook Islands would expect at least 100 international delegates to attend the week-long event, which will include an annual conference, athlete training seminars, coach and officials development, sports showcases and competitions.
She added that as part of the meeting, the Assembly also supported the proposed amendment to the Constitution on gender equality, which would allow for gender-equal representation on the Oceania Athletics Council at the next election in 2027.
